GRANDVIEW KLEIN AND ITS NAMIBIAN PARTNER MAKE DONATIONS TO NAMIBIA SCHOOL
May 22, 2023
New York, NY--Grandview Klein Diamonds and its local Namibian partners at Phillipine Angula Development Investments showed their ongoing commitment to the people of Namibia by refurbishing the computer room and donating sanitary ware and other important pieces of computer equipment to the Eros Primary School in Windhoek.
“The donation shows that companies operating in Namibia are not just focused on profit but are also committed to contributing to the community.” Said Bryan Eiseb, Ministry of Mines & Energy executive director. “The Grandview Klein Diamond Group donation to Eros Primary School is a great step towards building a better future for Namibian learners. It ensures that learners have access to modern and advanced e-learning platforms and addresses a basic need in empowering the girl child.”
The donation was made by the companies in support of Namibia's National Development Plan, Harambee Prosperity Plan and Vision 2030.
The computers and laptops to the school will provide students with an opportunity to develop their computer literacy skills, which are essential for the modern-day workplace.
“This donation couldn’t have come at a better time, whereas computer equipment is critical to the education of the Namibian child,” said Jacobina Hamata, principal of the Eros Primary School. “The generous donation from Grandview Klein Diamonds and Phillipine Angula Development Investments is not an end in itself – it is a means to an end. An investment in education is an investment in the future.”
The donation of 2,000 sanitary pads for the young women at school was co-sponsored by the Diamond Girls jewelry store in Idaho. Grandview Klein works with its retail partners to help them find avenues in which they can contribute to Namibian society. The sanitary products will enable girls to attend school regularly and confidently without worrying about their menstrual hygiene needs, ultimately making a positive impact on their academic performance.
Finally, Grandview Klein Diamonds and Phillipine Angula Development Investments contributed funds to refurbish the roof, walls and floors that were destroyed by recent rainstorms. The state of the school’s infrastructure has been a source of concern for some time, and this donation help address this, Grandview Klein says.
“When we came to Namibia in 2007, our goal was not just to create jobs in our factories and provide training for Namibian citizens throughout our operations, but also to embark on various corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people of Namibia,” said Moshe Klein, Grandview Klein Diamonds president. “I truly believe that what we are doing will have a long lasting impact on the lives of the students and staff at the Eros school, and we are grateful for their partnership and support.”
In addition to Jacobina Hamata, dignitaries and special guests at the donation event included Kornelia Shilunga, deputy minister: Mines and Energy, Faustina Caley, deputy minister of Education, Arts and Culture; Bryan Eiseb, acting executive director of the Ministry of Mines and Energy; Louise Shixwameni, deputy executive director, Ministry of Public Enterprises, and Brent Eiseb; CEO of Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC).
